The Alliance of Agrarian Reform Movement/Aliansi Gerakan Reforma Agraria (AGRA), an Indonesian militant peasant organization, mobilized thousands of its members to Jakarta to campaign against land confiscation, reject World Trade Organization (WTO) and rising fuel prices. Rahmat, secretary general of AGRA said that this mobilization is to confirm to the Indonesian Government the position of the Indonesian peasantry in these issues.

Workers, vendors troop to presidential palace

Illegally dismissed workers from Advan Shoes and Luneta vendors stormed the Malacañang Palace today as they jointly demand to the Aquino government, especially to the newly elected senators, congressmen and city officials to protect the people from massive unemployment, to generate adequate and decent jobs for all Filipinos and to recognize and not to criminalize the livelihood which the vendors and other informal workers created.

The Indonesian Peoples Alliance (IPA), a wide alliance of mass and civil society organizations, strongly condemned the government of SBY-Boediono who, through its apparatus, Large City Police in Surabaya, dispersed and arrested activists for staging a manifestation against the annual meeting of APEC trade ministers (Surabaya, April 20 to 21) and trade liberalization agenda. This action has further exposed the government of Indonesia as stooges of the international monopoly capitalist power, so the view of Adityo Ario, Managing Director of the Institute for National and Democracy Studies (INDIES).
